Welcome to the course website for Ling 380/Soc 427, Sociology of Language, with Professor Joseph Pentangelo. From here, you can access the syllabus, readings, slides from class, and weekly assignments.

It also serves as the hub from which you can access and edit your final research projects. As the class goes on, the majority of this site’s content will be created by you, the students in this class. After the class ends, the syllabus, assignments, and readings will be pulled from the site, leaving your research projects up for posterity.

Catalogue Description

Areas of discussion include language and class, language and sex, language and race, and language and ethnicity. For English majors and minors, this is designated as a linguistics course.
